Week 4 • Rising Grades 4–9 • Soccer – Foot Skills and Freestyle (Half Day)
Soccer: Foot Skills and Freestyle (Rising Grades 4–9)
Location: Waynflete Fore River Campus (283 Osgood St.)
Half day
8:45–11:45 a.m.
This is a weeklong, small group camp for serious, motivated soccer players looking to improve their overall skill level and ability to do tricks as well as enhance in-game performance. The camp will be run by George Sherry and Patrick Shaw.
The morning will be spent with approximately one hour of foot skills, followed by an hour of freestyle, then finishing with 45 minutes of small sided games. For the foot skills portion players will get top notch coaching on ways to improve their overall foot skills, knowledge of the game, and pace of play. We will focus on the following facets of the game: dribbling, passing, receiving, first touch, and shooting.
Freestyle is a sport that combines soccer, gymnastics, and the ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly. During the one hour freestyle section of camp we will introduce the four main categories of freestyle: uppers (tricks with your upper body), lowers (tricks with your feet), sit downs (tricks sitting down), and transitions (going from one category to the next). Each day we will be focusing on one category. The last day we will do something fun such as a performance or a mini competition.
