Creative Dance – Art (two-week camp)
Creative Dance – Art (Rising Grades 2–4)
Location: Waynflete School (360 Spring Street)
8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
In this two week program, campers rising to Grades 2-4 will enjoy a combination of both the performing and fine arts. Each morning, campers will refine dance technique with Susan Nelson, Waynflete’s Director of Dance. Highlights of Susan’s classes are playful improvisation and mindfulness exercises. An opportunity for sharing a performance with family will finish the second week. Weather permitting, dance classes will be held outdoors.
After lunch art sessions will include a creative exploration in puppet-making, involving paper mache and print-making, including monotype printmaking & relief printmaking for those who would like to create and costume their own unique puppet.
Health and Safety
Camp activities will run in compliance with Waynflete’s multi-layered Covid safety protocols. Camp programs will run outdoors, as possible. Face masks and social distancing will be required indoors and outside, with additional distancing requirements during snack/eating times. Bus transportation will be limited to under 15 minutes; passengers will be distanced and masked on the bus, consistent with Waynflete’s bus safety protocols. See more about Camp’s safety guidelines on the homepage.
$745 (two weeks) – We have increased our program costs an additional $25 this summer to address pandemic-related expenses.
June 28 to July 9 – Two Week Program
This video from Waynflete’s virtual Enrichment dance class (grades 1–5) gives you a taste of the kind of fun and exploration your children will experience. Teacher Susan Nelson says, “Our theme was Earth Day and dancers praised and embraced the Earth beautifully. Some dancers had stories to tell about their surroundings, others enjoyed the pure freedom of moving outside…”
