Week 1 • Rising Grades 2–4 • STEAM – Magic of Nature
STEAM: Magic of Nature (Rising Grades 2–4)
Location: Waynflete (360 Spring Street)
Full Day
8:30 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
Campers in grades 2–4 may join an uncommon STEAM experience that will magically combine art, nature, and science through a lens of whimsey and fantasy. We will explore physics concepts—building dragon puppets with moving parts and fairy houses filled with unusual tiny people and creatures. Our magical land (complete with games, nature activities, and outdoor exploration) will be science projects dressed in fairy wings and materials from nature. Our projects will focus eyes, ears, hands, and imagination on the beauty of natural settings in full bloom during the Maine summer. We will become makers of puppets, paintings, pressed flowers, miniature people and worlds (terrariums), small houses and villages—all sorts of projects using flowers, leaves, shells, stones—to embrace the natural glory of summertime. Two afternoon field trips will bring our group to the fairy woods and mermaids’ shoreline. Bus transportation is included.
