Weeks:

Tennis (Rising Grades 2–4)
Location: Waynflete Fore River Campus (283 Osgood St.)

Half Day
9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Join Coach Mary Gray on the Waynflete tennis courts to learn and play! Coach Mary Gray teaches the basics in a way that makes learning the game accessible and fun for all levels of players. Campers will learn basic tennis skills—proper racket grip, forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads, and scoring. Opportunities for light-hearted match play will give campers the full picture of the game. Tennis camps will balance time on the court with a variety of fun activities to keep campers actively engaged.

Head Coach of Tennis Mary Gray
Mary Gray is a certified PTR Tennis Teaching Professional who has taught and coached in the Greater Portland area for the past 32 years. While in college she played on a two-time regional championship team and most recently represented Maine in the National Senior Games for players 50 years  and older. Mary has taught predominantly in the communities of Falmouth and Cape Elizabeth, as well as for the Waynflete Upper School program, with students ranging in age from 4 to 87 years of age!

“My top priority is that my students leave the courts having had a great time. I work to promote a love of the game of tennis, help players develop and practice good stroke mechanics along with a sound understanding of the game, and come away feeling good about the time they spent in their clinics. I stress sportsmanship and being a team player. Tennis is a great lifetime sport—what better way to spend your summer?!”
