Theater Intensive

CANCELLED FOR 2020

This is a summer camp production with a three-week rehearsal period, culminating in a performance of The Tempest, one of Shakespeare's most magical and imaginative plays. (Think: sea storms, fairies, fish-people). We are looking for campers rising to Grades 6–10 who are interested in exploring their creative expression on stage through theater exercises, movement/dance, music, puppetry, and, of course, Shakespeare! (But no prior Shakespeare experience necessary!)

Tennis

Time to hit Waynflete's tennis courts! Beginner campers will learn basic tennis skills, including proper racket grip, forehands, backhands, and volleys, while more experienced players will participate in specialized games and match play that will improve game strategy, improve focus, and encourage light-hearted competitive play.

Summertime Arts is Waynflete’s traditional decades-old arts and crafts program in which campers learn and master a variety of arts experiences. Summertime Arts campers rotate daily through art stations to interact with specialized teaching artists. We emphasize the creative process and learning enriching life skills.

Lacrosse camp starts the week with a focus on passing, catching, and ground balls, and progresses into dodging, shooting, and defense. Scrimmages enable players to experience team-play. K-1 Camp (Outdoor Nature-based Creative Camp for Active K-1s) OR “Summer Term” for Rising Grade 1 (NEW Academic Program)

K-1 campers ages 5 to 6 will engage in a fun mix of activities focused on community-based weekly themes. Campers enjoy a daily routine, activities indoors and out, creative movement, and a variety of art projects integrated throughout the day.

Both beginner and intermediate gymnasts will receive individualized attention from experienced instructors. Campers develop physical coordination through beam, vault, rings, floor, and bars. In the second week, campers design and prepare routines to showcase gymnastics skills for family and friends in the second week.

Electronic Music Production with “Kodomo”

Emmy award-winning composer and electronic musician Chris Child ("Kodomo") will share his experience, teaching campers the basic elements of electronic music production. Campers will learn to record, create, and edit their sounds from scratch, providing them with a foundation to create electronic music.

Weekly themed camp programs provide an engaging mix of structured activities and free play—indoors and out. Campers will enjoy storytelling, creative movement, art, and music. Afternoons include nap/rest time. Three year-olds are eligible for the half-day program, while four-year-olds may enroll in either the half-day or full-day program.

A great opportunity for campers to learn about contemporary dance and practice and refine technique. We will review dance history, learn dances from different cultures, practice daily mindfulness exercises and improvisation, and develop skills. June 15-19 - Brandon Salway's basketball camp for Grade 6–9 campers. July 20-24 - morning basketball camp with afternoon gym games for Grade 2–5 campers. Dribble, shoot, and score! Experienced coaches and fun counselors will inspire a love of the game. This camp is a great way for players to hone their skills and participate in a variety of offensive and defensive drills.
