At Waynflete Dance Camps K–5 dancers learn to become strong, confident, creative, and expressive through movement exploration. Each week culminates with a fun performance to showcase our skills and camper collaborations!
Dance Camp: Rain Clouds and Rainbows
June 17–21, 2024 (four half days)
Kindergarten–Grade 1

In this half-day creative movement camp, we will explore all the colors of the rainbow. How might they dance across the sky? Where can we find them in nature? How do they inspire us? How might colors be used to help us dance through our emotions? Campers will be led through a daily brain dance warm-up as well as mindful movement activities. We will spend plenty of time freely exploring and moving our bodies to music. We will have snack time and recess outside, then travel back inside to work on props, costumes, and a set to help us further explore these themes and support the work we create for the informal showing at the end of our week together. No camp on June 19.
Dance Camp: Under the Sea
June 24–28, 2024
Grades 2-4

In this full day creative movement camp, dancers will be asked to explore the movement of the ocean. We will work together to create crashing waves, breaching dolphins, and joyful jellyfish. We might even invent a magical sea creature or two. Our time together will begin with a brain dance, mindful movement warm-up, and thematic movement explorations. We will have lots of good outside time for snack and recess before heading back inside to put our ideas together into a more cohesive dance piece. After lunch, time will be spent building sets, props, and costumes to add excitement and intrigue to our end of week informal showing, which is sure to be a splash!
