Eco-Explorers – Nature Camp

2-4 Camp

Based at Waynflete’s beautiful Nature Classroom at our Fore River Campus, Eco-Explorers will explore Maine’s diverse natural habitats through outdoor adventures, nature journaling, stories, crafts, games and more! Engaging nature specialists will visit weekly to spark campers interest in the wonders of our natural world. Is your Eco-Explorer ready to dig for salamanders, hold frogs, and explore the marsh muck with their new friends? We are!

Eco-Explorers – Creative Creatures

June 17–21, 2024 (four days)
Grades 2–4

We’ll kick off the season with a week of incredible nature art! From rock sculptures to pinecone critter portraits, we’ll explore patterns, circles, and spirals. Will you be the next Andy Goldsworthy? No camp on June 19.

Eco-Explorers – Eagle Eyes

June 24–28, 2024
Grades 2–4

What if you had a nose like a black bear and eyes like an eagle? Animals use incredible senses to do amazing things! This week campers will see if they can outperform wild animals in silly sensory challenges. Get ready for barefoot hikes, a nature jam session, and so much more!

Eco-Explorers – Nature Detectives

July 1–5, 2024 (four days)

Look high! Look low! Discover the intertwined relationships of the ecosystem around us by getting down and dirty in the mud to see what critters live down deep and way up high. What is looking down at you from the tree tops? We’ll discover the signs of animal activity hidden in our forest, streams, and mud flats. No camp on July 4.

Eco-Explorers – Marsh Meet-Up

July 8–12, 2024

Who left those tacks on the bank? What is that furry pellet at the base of the old oak? We’re diving into the habitat of our local waterways and marshes this week as campers learn about who actually lives on the banks of the Fore River.

This week is all about wild and messy nature challenges! Can you create a nature cover to keep you hidden during an epic game of camouflage? Dig deep in the marsh muck to discover incredible invertebrates beneath? Identify a tree just by touch? We’re up for the adventure!

Eco-Explorers – Mammal Mania

July 22–26, 2024

I am warm, fuzzy, and always on the lookout for food. What am I? During this week, we’ll explore the remarkable traits and adaptations that make mammals the masters of their environment. Become a crafty coyote, a restless rabbit, or a timid fox and try to survive the challenges of the food pyramid!
