Faces of Summer 2025

Kat Duvall (she/her) Camp Director & Manager of Auxiliary Programs

Kat is the Camp Director for Summer at Waynflete. During the school year Kat manages Waynflete’s large Extended Day program in addition to her year-round camp planning!

Lila Dolan (she/her) Communication and Office Manager, Coordinator of Auxiliary Programs

Lila is our Communications and Office Manager for Summer at Waynflete. During the school year, she assists operations for our Extended Day program, Enrichment workshops, Enrichment Music Instruction and Athletic Clinics. Lila previously was a Camp Counselor and Aide Director for 7 years at YMCA Camp Nokomis. She also brings over 4 years of classroom reaching experience with students in Kindergarten through third grade.

Jenny Mueller (she/her) Director of Auxiliary Programs

Jenny directs operations for Summer at Waynflete, Extended Day, Enrichment workshops, and Athletic Clinics at Waynflete. Prior to Waynflete, Jenny perviously was the Camp Director at CREA in Topsham, managed camp operations for the YMCA of Southern Maine and was the Director of Camps at Headfirst in Washington, DC.

Leslie Foster (she/her) Program Director, Mini Flyers

Leslie works in Waynflete’s Extended Day program as the lead teacher in Early Childhood (EC). It is her happy place! She has spent her career in Early Childhood education and Preschool Administration in the Washington, DC area. Leslie Moved to Maine in 2021, with her dog Naomi and never looked back. Leslie loves to explore the villages and islands of Maine, read, and visit farmers markets!

Maggie Ruff (she/her) Co-Program Director, Flyers

Liza Stratton (they/them) Co-Program Director, Flyers

Liza has worked in the Youth Development industry for 15 years and is very excited to get to spend their summer with us at Waynflete this year! Outside of camp, Liza loves all outdoor activities especially when they can do them with their yellow lab, Oswald! 

Nora Petroliunas (she/her) Program Director, Dance

Nora has been teaching movement to people of all ages and making dances for nearly 20 years. She is looking forward to summertime creative energy and exchanging ideas with eager and excited dancers. When not at camp, Nora enjoys spending time camping with her family both in the mountains and on the coast. Summer in Maine is the best!

Danielle Hunsinger (she/her) Program Director, Eco-Explorers

Danielle is a passionate outdoor educator, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of nature lovers! She is experienced in creating fun and engaging nature based activities for children and promoting a love and respect for our outside world. When not at camp, Danielle lovesto do yoga, go on hikes with her daughter and pup, and read a good book with her cat! 

Andrew Leach (he/him) Program Director, Basketball

Steve Gilbert (he/him) Program Director, Multi-Sport

Steve is very excited for this run of Multi-Sport camps. He took on the challenge of running our new Multi-Sports camp last year and had a blast everyday! Steve currently teach P.E. and coaches three sports at Waynflete. This summer he is looking forward to being able to work with all different types of athletes, being out on the water fishing, and walking his dogs in the sunshine! When not at Waynflete you can most likely find Steve coaching at Bowdoin College with the Men’s Lacrosse team, fishing out on a lake or in the gym working on his physical fitness!

Rowena Schenck (she/her) Co-Program Director, Field Hockey

Rowena is the varsity field hockey coach at Waynflete School and also serves as the assistant varsity lacrosse coach. With a passion for both sports, Rowena played field hockey and lacrosse throughout high school and continued her lacrosse career at Amherst College. At Amherst, Rowena was honored as a captain during her senior year and received All-NESCAC recognition for her outstanding performance on the field. Beyond coaching, Rowena enjoys biking—whether it’s hitting the road or spinning indoors—and skiing in her spare time.

Stacey Sevelowitz (she/her) Co-Program Director, Field Hockey

Stacey has been playing or coaching field hockey for many years, and she is currently Waynflete School’s Varsity Field Hockey Assistant Coach. She loves helping players hone their skills and develop confidence on the pitch. This summer, Stacey is looking forward to sharing her love for the sport during camp, and also during preseason with her team. She also can’t wait to play mah jongg and cribbage with her parents this summer, who come to Maine every summer. Stacey loves hiking with her dog, camping and swimming with her family, and having more time in the summer to read lots of books.

Will Burdick (he/him) Co-Program Director, Soccer

Will is returning for his 5th summer as a Co-Director for Waynflete soccer camps. He currently coaches for Maine Lightning and the Waynflete Boys Varsity Soccer Team. This summer, Will is very excited to play fun soccer camp activities (like soccer-golf and soccer-tennis), and go to the beach with his dog!

Jesse McDonough (he/him) Co-Program Director, Soccer

Jesse McDonough is a Middle and Upper School Teacher at Waynflete, as well as the Girls Varsity Soccer Coach. His passion for soccer goes back to the time he was a 6-year-old picking dandelions on defense. While he still enjoys getting out in nature, he truly loves playing and teaching the beautiful game. Jesse looks forward to sharing his love for the sport and helping you grow as a player during a fun-filled week at camp!

Taylor Gaar (he/him) Program Director, Ultimate Frisbee

Taylor Gaar has been playing ultimate frisbee for more than 25 years and is in his second year as coach of the middle school ultimate program at Waynflete, where he also teaches 7th and 8th grade science. After playing in college on the west coast, he has continued to nurture his love of the game by playing in leagues in Boston and Portland…that is, when he can find time between teaching, parenting a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old, working around the house, cracking dad jokes, and occasionally getting into the mountains to hike. With this camp, Taylor is excited to open up an ultimate frisbee experience to both middle schoolers and younger students, which he hopes will help them discover and kindle a lifelong love of the sport.

Susan Wiemer (she/her) Program Director, STEAM

Susan has been a part of our summer Camps and Enrichment Workshop at Waynflete for over 25 years! Her STEAM workshops and camps are designed to open the door to basic physics concepts and scientific method in fun and engaging ways that help kids build appreciation for the sciences from the ground up. Susan enjoys Crossfit, running and gardening and coaches a competitive gymnastics team at Maine Academy of Gymnastics.

Autumn Burton (she/her) Program Director, Exploring the Human Body

Autumn is a science teacher at Waynflete who grew up in Maine and loves working where she’s from. She’s passionate about getting kids excited about science and making learning fun and hands-on! This summer, she’s looking forward to spending time outside with her daughter and going on lots of little adventures together.

Chris Child (he/him) Program Director, Electronic Music Production

Chris is an Emmy award winning composer, actively composing for TV, film, video games, and music apps. He creates electronic music under the moniker Kodomo having released four albums over the past 10 years. He is the owner of the record label FOIL IMPRINTS along with sound designer Micah Frank.

Nicole Potter (she/her) Co-Program Director, Aquaculture

Nicole Potter does many jobs within the aquaculture industry! She works on oyster farms and runs a kelp nursery as well as maintaining kelp farms while they are growing in the ocean. The thing she is most excited for this summer is working on the water in the warm weather! Nicole has two sons that are 14 and 9 years old. They spend a lot of time outdoors fishing, dirt-biking and exploring!

Mayzie Corman (she/her) Co-Program Director, Aquaculture

Mayzie has been working on the waterfront for various oyster and kelp farms in Southern Maine for the past 3 years and absolutely loving it! She had the unique opportunity to run a kelp nursery last fall and even traveled to Alaska for an international seaweed conference. Mayzie is excited to get her hands wet this summer and teach the campers all about the intertidal organisms that inhabit Maine’s beautiful coast.

Riss Bickford (they/them) Co-Program Director, Dungeons & Dragons

Riss has a background in media production having worked in Boston, Los Angeles, and all across Maine for ten years. The common thread in their work is community and compassion. When working in documentary film, they love improvising and building a story together with their subject – especially young community leaders. When it comes to life, Riss is an amateur ASMRist, constant crafter, tinkerer, and thrifter/tailor. They love trying new tabletop games or creating their own mini games to play. Riss is most excited for D&D Summer Camp as a place to combine all their passions in one place while enjoying all the beauty Maine has to offer!

Eli Gallagher (he/him) Co-Program Director, Dungeons & Dragons

Elijah is currently an English & Psychology major at Grinnell College. Eli has been working at Waynflete’s D&D camp for years, but in his free time he likes to hike, read, & quest for the perfect egg sandwich. This summer, Eli is excited to go camping with his friends & put quality time into writing stories!

Angela Keating (she/her) Program Director, Summertime Arts

Angela Keating is an elementary art teacher in Scarborough, ME. She studied Elementary Education and Art Education at UNE and is currently in pursuit of her masters. Angela runs a small craft business in her free time focused on upcycling second-hand clothing. She enjoys reading, yoga and spending time outdoors. Angela is looking forward to bringing her passion for art to the Waynflete team!

Melanie Boone (she/her) Co-Program Director, Art on the Move

Melanie holds a fine art degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York and studied traditional crafts including weaving, pottery and metalwork while living in Ireland. She works as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. This summer she’s looking forward to family time, camps, being with friends, beach days and berry picking! She is a Waynflete parent and Extended Day teacher who lives in Freeport with her husband and two sweet children. 

Mia Schaumburg (they/she) Co-Program Director, Art on the Move

Mia has been working in childcare for 10 years as a nanny, preschool teacher, and Extended Day teacher. Currently, Mia is a tattoo artist outside of teaching at Waynflete. They enjoy walking their dog, playing music, and swimming as much as possible!

Cora Curtis (she/her) Co-Program Director, Sewing (Grades 6-9)

Lindsay Kaplan(she/her) Director, Sewing (Grades 3-5)

When Lindsay Kaplan is not teaching French, she’s in her sewing room! Lindsay has been an avid sewist for over ten years, making quilts, clothing, bags, and more. She is so excited to share her expertise with elementary school students this summer!

Cristin Walsh (she/her) Director, Cooking

Cristin graduated from Waynflete School in ‘98, before earning a BFA from Boston University in Sculpture. After graduating she moved to NYC, Cristin traded the art studio for kitchens, graduating with a Certificate in Pastry Arts from the International Culinary Institute and working in several New York City restaurants.  In 2012, Cristin landed at America’s Test Kitchen, where she worked on the Cook’s Country magazine which focused on regional American food. In 2014 her first son was born and she shifted her work to freelancing as a recipe development for Milk Street Kitchen. Now with three boys, Cristin flexes her cooking skills by making fun cakes for her boy’s birthdays and making custom cakes for friends.  This Summer, Cristin is excited to explore the bounty of the farmers market, share her cooking knowledge and get the young chefs in Cooking Camp excited to stir up some fun!

Whitney McSweeney (she/her) Co-Director, Spanish Immersion

Lesley Valadez (she/her) Co-Director, Spanish Immersion

Prior to joining the Extended Day team at Waynflete, Lesley taught elementary school students at a Spanish immersion school in the Portland, Oregon area. She is looking forward to forming meaningful connections with students by teaching them a new language and its cultural significance. Outside of camp, Lesley enjoys reading and going on walks to catch the birds singing!
